SANFORD, Fla. – A para-professional at Seminole High School was arrested on Friday morning after a student was sprayed with water, according to the Sanford Police Department.

In a news release, police said they were notified on Thursday about a staff member spraying water from a bottle “onto the lap area of an Exceptional Education Student” on two different occasions.

“The staff member… was observed by a juvenile witness poking a hole in the top of a water bottle and spraying the contents into the lap of a ESE student in the class he was assigned to work in,” an arrest report states.

As a result, police arrived at the school on Friday just after 7 a.m. to arrest the para-professional, identified as 34-year-old Tyrone Bouie.

“Seminole County Public Schools has placed Mr. Bouie on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation,” a district spokesperson announced. “Any allegations of misconduct by staff are taken seriously and addressed quickly. The district will fully cooperate with the investigation by Sanford Police Department, as well as conducting an internal investigation.”

Bouie now faces two counts of child abuse without great bodily harm and two counts of battery. He is held without bond.
