() – A shooting suspect out of Jenkins County is in custody after a chase across county lines into Burke County, Monday afternoon.
Around 4 p.m., Georgia State Troopers spotted a vehicle matching the description of one driven by a male shooting suspect in Jenkins County, traveling on US 25.
The vehicle began to flee on Winthrope Avenue after Troopers attempted a traffic stop. A PIT maneuver was attempted to end the chase, causing the vehicle to stop at an intersection. State Troopers reportedly exited their vehicles and ordered the driver to show his hands and exit the vehicle. The driver then regained control of his vehicle and fled.
Jenkins County Deputies pursued the suspect into Burke County, where Burke County Deputies arrived to assist.
The suspect then lost control of his vehicle at the US 25 Bypass near Burke County High School and was then taken into custody.
The suspect’s identity has not yet been released. No word yet on charges.
