CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Nathan Applegate joined WCIA’s Taylor Mitchell in the studio to talk about Champaign County’s upcoming Freedom Celebration.

The celebration will kick off with a parade at 4:30 p.m. on Friday near 4th and Kirby. You can find a complete route for the parade here. Applegate will perform at 6 p.m., and attendees can also expect food, inflatables and fun.

“I’m looking forward to performing for the community. My family has lived here, in the Champaign-Urbana area, for a very long time, they come from a family of farmers, crop farming of course,” Applegate said. “I’m just excited to be here with some hometown roots, and perform for the folks here, and celebrate the Fourth of July.”

The stage will be located along Kirby Avenue, between First and Oak Streets. Fireworks will start at 9:15 p.m. You can find more details here.
