VILLA GROVE, Ill. (WCIA) — Lilly-Lynn Davis and Ryan Lillard from Villa Grove FFA joined WCIA’s Mitchell Rife to talk about two upcoming fundraising events that the group is planning.
This will be the first year that “hat day” raises money for Villa Grove teachers, and the organizers said they hope it helps to “shake up education.”
Farmers can sponsor elementary school classrooms. They’ll give $1 per student, and the students will be allowed to wear hats to school. Then, the money goes into a pool and the Villa Grove FFA will match the money. The funds will then be granted to teachers to pay for fun and creative activities in the classroom.
The Villa Grove FFA will also host a “kiss the goat” fundraiser. The organizers said they’ll host a bake sale, and everyone who buys an item can submit a vote for a teacher they want to kiss a goat during a schoolwide assembly.
