HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. () – Dozens flocked to the shore to take an icy plunge to start off the year on Hilton Head Island.

Hilton Head Island held its annual “Polar Plunge” on Monday.

The Polar Plunge, benefiting Charli’s Critters charity, takes place at Coligny Beach on New Year’s Day each year at 10:30 a.m.

The charity is named for Charli Bobinchuk, who was struck and killed by a driver in 2018 while walking across Highway 278. An avid animal lover, the charity now supports her favorite cause.
