RANTOUL, Ill. — A historic aircraft that represents a significant chapter in military history is returning to Central Illinois.
The Tuskegee Airmen / WASP Traveling Exhibit, which pays tribute to the first Black military pilots of World War II, has arrived in Rantoul, alongside the official Tuskegee Airmen plane. Previously, the exhibit visited Decatur, but space limitations there prevented the aircraft from being displayed. Now, it proudly stands at the former Chanute Air Force Base.
