Construction on hold at HL-GA Battery Company following immigration raid

BRYAN COUNTY, Ga. () — Construction at the HL-GA Battery Company facility is on hold following the immigration raid at the plant on September 4, 2025.

This construction site was the target for the immigration operation, according to the search warrant obtained by . Homeland Security officials said 475 employees were detained.

Officials with HL-GA told Friday that they are preparing for operation to resume, and production is scheduled to start in the first-half of 2026.

“The U.S. is an extremely important market for us. In the mid-term, we plan to locate half of our total global battery cell-making capacity here,” a spokesperson told . “LG Energy Solution remains committed to our projects in the U.S. and will continue to navigate the circumstances with the aim to continue necessary investments and business. Moving forward, LG Energy Solution will continue to cooperate with the Korean and U.S. governments on the visa process.”
