SAVANNAH, Ga. — Home court advantage seems to be a significant factor for the Savannah State men’s basketball team, as their performance at Tiger Arena continues to impress.
This season, the Tigers have secured 12 victories, with an impressive 10 of those wins occurring on their home turf. Their latest triumph was a 69-60 win against Spring Hill.
The situation changes when they hit the road, where their record stands at a challenging 2-8.
As the regular season draws to a close, Savannah State faces five more games, including a match this Saturday. Three of these remaining games will be away from home.
Their final game is set against Tuskegee, who currently holds the top spot in the West Division.
I feel like just playing more and more together or just being around each other off the court, getting to know each other’s tendencies or personalities,” said Savannah native and junior guard Zyere Edwards. “Then when we come on to the court and being able to mesh those together, we just to be able to get the best that we can, not everybody.
“I like how things are going so far. I feel like the team is now starting to gel a little bit more. Earlier in the season, it was more of a new team getting put together, so we just had to figure each other out a little bit. And I feel like recently with me starting to get a lot more. So going into the conference, I feel like we’re going to be clicking on all cylinders.”
Savannah State faces Edward Waters on Saturday, which will also serve as Senior Night.
