TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting after authorities found one person dead in front of a Tampa apartment complex Monday afternoon.
Shortly after 2:15 p.m., the sheriff’s office received calls about gunshots being heard at the Del Rio Apartments. When deputies arrived, they found a man in front of the apartment complex and pronounced him dead.
During the investigation into the shooting, HCSO detectives discovered that a vehicle drove past the Del Rio Apartments and opened fire several times in the direction of the complex before driving away.
Authorities said shortly after the shooting, the vehicle in connection to the shooting was found and is now part of the investigation.
“Our detectives work hard to solve these cases, and ensure the violent criminals that terrorize our communities see justice,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. “This shooting not only killed a man, but it endangered the lives of families who live and were enjoying their Memorial Day outside.”
