SPRING HILL, Fla. (WFLA) — A man from Homosassa is now facing a slew of charges after allegedly crashing his vehicle twice while under the influence of electronics cleaner, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The incident unfolded when Dennis Johnson, 42, was spotted by an FHP captain driving his Ford F150 erratically on California Street in Spring Hill. Johnson was reportedly overtaking other vehicles in a zone where passing is prohibited.

Shortly thereafter, Johnson collided with a vehicle that was entering a driveway, an impact powerful enough to activate his truck’s airbags.

In an attempt to escape the scene, Johnson drove off but soon smashed into a metal handrail at a nearby bus stop. His efforts to flee failed, as law enforcement quickly apprehended him and took him into custody.

Officers noticed signs of impairment and a white residue around his mouth, followed by the discovery of two cans of electronics duster in the front passenger seat of his truck.

Also found was the Walmart receipt for the two cans Johnson purchased just before the crash. FHP said one of the cans was empty and had what appeared to be saliva around the opening.

Johnson was booked into the Hernando County Jail and charged with DUI, hit-and-run, and reckless driving with property damage.
