MAHOMET, Ill. — A young life was tragically cut short as a Mahomet teenager succumbed to a rare and aggressive cancer, leaving behind a legacy that his family is determined to preserve. Diagnosed earlier this year, the teen’s courageous journey touched many in his community.
“It all began with a simple knee pain,” recounted Ryan Robbins, father of the late Devin Robbins. “Walking became increasingly difficult for him.” This seemingly minor ailment marked the beginning of a challenging path for Devin and his family, ultimately leading to a heartbreaking diagnosis.
Following a series of medical tests, Devin’s condition was identified as osteosarcoma, a rare and particularly aggressive form of cancer. “From the outset, it was a daunting battle,” Ryan explained, acknowledging the formidable nature of the disease his son faced.
