Shooting down hunger: Champaign basketball teams help end food insecurity

SIDNEY, Ill. — A group of young athletes from Central Illinois is demonstrating their dedication extends beyond the basketball court to making a positive impact in their community.

On Sunday, the Unity East basketball teams, comprised of 4th, 5th, and 6th graders, took a break from their usual practice to organize a food drive outside the gym.

These dedicated players stationed themselves outside gas stations in Sidney, Tolono, and Philo, where they collected donations until 5 p.m.
