BREVARD COUNTY, Fla – Hundreds of mourners filled Calvary Church on Saturday to celebrate the life of Brevard County Agent Kevin Morris, remembered as a devoted husband, father, coach and law enforcement officer who died while answering a shooting-related call.
Morris was killed on Interstate 95 when a wrong-way driver crashed head-on into his vehicle. Both motorists died in the collision.
During the memorial service, relatives, friends and fellow officers shared memories of Morris and reflected on the lasting impression he made in their lives and throughout the community.
Morris’ children spoke through tears about the guidance and support their father provided. “This next chapter of my life without picking up the phone to call you,” one of Morris’ children said during the service. “I don’t know how I’m supposed to face the hard calls, or the difficult cases, or the moments when I simply just need to tell my dad and have him tell me that everything’s going to work out and it’ll be okay.”
The ceremony also honored the many parts of Morris’ life outside of his badge. He was remembered as a loving husband and father, a grandfather and a coach who made a difference to those he mentored.

Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said Morris’ death has created an immeasurable absence within the agency. “Kevin is now looking down on us this morning, and if he didn’t know before, he now knows how much he was loved, how much he was respected, how much he taught us, how much he meant to us, and more than anything else, how much we miss him already,” Ivey said during the service.
Following the service, officers and representatives from law enforcement agencies across Florida came together to honor Morris one final time.
Ivey described the grief that follows the loss of a fellow agency member. “You know, when an agency loses somebody, you hurt,” Ivey said. “There’s a huge void in your life. And so if he was standing here right now, I would tell him I’m proud of him.”
Morris leaves behind his mother, wife, three children and grandchildren.
