CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Most people don’t think of disc golf as a winter activity, but Saturday offered a chance to play in a tournament for a good cause.
The 14th Annual Ice Bowl was held at Dodds Park in Champaign. The round started at 10:30 a.m. and 100% of the money raised is going to the Eastern Illinois Foodbank. Event organizer Wilbur Wallis said they’ve been able to make a difference in the 13 years he’s been running the tournament.
“One of the things with the Ice Bowl is that it’s very encouraged to use a food type charity,” Wallis said. “In 13 the years that we’ve done it, we’ve given the food bank over $31,000 now. Not bad for some crazy people out throwing frisbees in the winter.”
Wallis said they had 70 people sign up and are shooting to raise at least $3,000. Anyone was welcomed to go watch the event.
