CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) – The Illinois men’s basketball team has returned to victorious form.
On Senior Night, the Illini triumphed over Oregon with a decisive 80-54 victory in what marked their last home game at the State Farm Center this season.
Initially, Illinois had a sluggish start, finding themselves behind 9-3 within the first five minutes of action.
However, Underwood’s group quickly kicked it into gear – gaining firm control with a 21-0 first half run. Illinois led by 20 at halftime.
The second half never got close enough for Illini fans to grow nervous, with Illinois opening up a lead as large as 30 at one point.
Andrej Stojakovic and David Mirkovic led Illinois with 21 and 19 points, respectively. Stojakovic paired his scoring with 12 rebounds for a double-double.
Illinois improves to 23-7 overall and 14-5 in Big Ten play.
The Illini conclude the regular season on Sunday, March 8 at Maryland.
