Illini women's gymnastics wins big on senior day

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Illinois honored their senior gymnasts with a major Big Ten win at home.

The Illini posted a 195.825 over Washington and Illinois State at the annual Senior Day meet.

Arielle Ward led the vault rotation with a 9.800 to give Illinois a slight lead after the first rotation.

The bar rotation saw a standout performance from senior Amelia Knight, a meet-high 9.900 to lead Illinois State by 0.275 through two events.

Beam also saw a senior lead the way as Ruthuja Nataraj recorded a season-high 9.875 to claim the title.

The afternoon ended on floor where fifth-year senior Emmalise Nock tied her Illinois high of 9.900.

Four-time and reigning Big Ten Freshman of the Week Chloe Cho again led the all-around competition.

One home meet remains for the Illini, hosting NIU on March 16 for the annual I Am Meet.
