CHICAGO (WCIA) — As the holiday shopping season kicks off this weekend, the Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR) is advising consumers to remain vigilant while shopping online to safeguard against fraud and identity theft.

“This is one of the busiest times for online shopping, and cybercriminals are ready to exploit any lapse in vigilance,” stated IDOR Director David Harris in a news release. “Shoppers in Illinois can shield themselves from potential financial woes by adopting simple safety measures.”
