CHAMPAIGN, ILL (WCIA) – In response to escalating energy issues in Central Illinois, Sen. Chapin Rose (R-Mahomet) is advocating for a new set of legislative measures.

On Friday, the senator introduced a trio of bills, asserting their purpose is to safeguard both consumers and natural resources effectively.

One of the key bills, SB 4003, seeks to shield Illinois residents from rising electricity costs by implementing caps on consumer rates. Additionally, it proposes the reversal of the Clean and Reliable Grid Affordability Act, a policy signed into law by Gov. JB Pritzker in January, which aims to install three gigawatts of battery storage by 2030.

Rose criticized the current administration for what he describes as excessive policy mandates under Pritzker, which he claims have significantly inflated costs for local residents.
