In Monticello, Illinois, a new law has come into effect as the year begins, mandating that first responders report overdose incidents to the state. This crucial information will subsequently be relayed to local health departments.

The law stipulates that first responders must provide specific details such as the date, time, and location of each overdose. Additionally, they are required to indicate whether the overdose was fatal and confirm if any overdose reversal medications were administered.
