
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — The latest figures from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) indicate that while Illinois’ unemployment rate held steady in May, the state experienced a rise in payroll jobs for the third consecutive month.
According to information released by the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) on Thursday, the unemployment rate was 5.1%, with an addition of 6,000 jobs. The number of unemployed individuals decreased by 0.3 percentage points from April, standing at 336,300. However, this figure reflects a 15.3% increase compared to the same time last year. Additionally, the labor force saw a slight decline of 0.2%.
