As holiday travelers hit the roads in South Carolina, they can expect an increased presence of law enforcement officers ensuring safety on the highways.
The South Carolina Department of Public Safety has announced enhanced traffic enforcement during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, coinciding with an anticipated surge in road travel.
AAA forecasts that nearly 110 million Americans will opt for road trips this holiday season, favoring driving over flying. This trend is likely influenced by decreasing gas prices, with GasBuddy predicting costs could drop to $2.79 per gallon by Christmas, marking the lowest level since 2020.
Expect to see additional South Carolina Highway Patrol officers and State Transport Police from December 24 at 6 p.m. until midnight on December 28, and again from December 31 at 6 p.m. through midnight on January 4.
