WITT, Ill. (WCIA) — The Witt Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of a man trapped under a tractor on Saturday afternoon.

The first responders were dispatched to the area of N. Main St. and W. Raymon Ave. at 1:48 p.m. The fire department also called for a medical helicopter and for mutual aid from Nokomis and Filmore Fire Protection Districts. At the time, the fire department was not sure how big the tractor was, if the victim was injured, or how severely the person was trapped.

While on the way to the scene, the first responders were told the person was no longer trapped under the tractor anymore. When they arrived, the fire crews found the man alert, but injured; they requested that the helicopter land nearby in a hayfield.

The Nokomis-Witt area ambulance service transported the victim to the landing zone.

No further information is available at this time.
