GROVETOWN, Ga. () – Authorities in Columbia County are delving into a shooting incident that left a 16-year-old wounded in Grovetown.
The altercation unfolded shortly after 6 p.m. on Crenshaw Drive, in proximity to Hidden Creek neighborhood park, according to investigators.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office reports that teenagers Ahmed Garnett and Ethan Moss, both 16, orchestrated a meeting with Santrez Hall Jr. with the intent of purchasing THC vape cartridges. However, deputies reveal their actual plan was to rob Hall.
Officials state that the other teens involved—Carmen Simms, 18, Taron Bruce, 17, Benjamin Bruce, 15, and Xavier Sullivan, 16—were unaware of the intended robbery.
As the investigation continues, authorities explain that Garnett and Moss approached Hall’s car, snatched the cartridges, and fled to a vehicle driven by Taron Bruce. It was then that Hall allegedly pursued them and discharged several gunshots.
One teen, Carmen Simms, was shot in the back and taken to the hospital. Officials say Simms is in stable condition. Another teen was grazed by a bullet but not seriously hurt.
Deputies say the group drove to the neighborhood entrance, where the two teens accused of planning the robbery were told to get out of the car. The driver then went to a Georgia State Patrol post for help.
Investigators later found Garnett and Moss at their homes and took them into custody. Both are now charged with robbery.
Hall was also arrested. He faces six counts of aggravated assault and one count of criminal damage to property. Deputies say they recovered shell casings, additional THC cartridges, and a handgun during the investigation.
