Investigation Underway Following Officer-Involved Shooting in Aiken County

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. () – In Graniteville, an officer-involved shooting is currently under investigation, as confirmed by Major Ronald Griffin of the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office on Friday.

Major Griffin reported that authorities were dispatched to the 100 block of Connector Road at approximately 9 a.m. on March 6 after receiving a report related to the incident.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered a burglary in progress with the rear door of a home forcibly opened. One suspect was apprehended, while another allegedly aimed a firearm at the deputies.

In response, deputies discharged their weapons, striking the armed suspect. The injured individual was taken to a local hospital, though his condition remains undisclosed. Fortunately, no deputies were harmed during the confrontation.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has been tasked with investigating the shooting involving the officers. Meanwhile, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the burglary case.

Traffic is impacted on Connector Road, and drivers are asked to seek an alternate route.
