DECAUR, Ill. (WCIA) — A 14-year-old boy was shot in Decatur after getting off the bus on Thursday.

The Decatur Police Department said the shooting happened in the area of North Oakland Ave. and West View St. around 4:50 p.m.

Police said the teenager and a friend had gotten off the bus at the same time as another girl. The older brother of the girl thought they were following her, and began to argue with the two.

More people started to show up, police said, and the argument escalated. Another female arrived, pulled out a gun, and fired three rounds, according to police.

The 14-year-old suffered non-life-threatening injuries according to police. The house that the argument took place in front of showed evidence of gunfire, but no one inside was injured. No arrests have been made at this time.

Police are still investigating. Anyone with additional information is asked to call the Decatur Police Department at 217-424-2734. To make an anonymous tip, call the Macon County Crime Stoppers at 217-423-8477.
