WISE, Va. (WJHL) – The Isaiah 117 House celebrated a new home in an expansion kickoff event on Sunday.
The event aimed to bring awareness of the upcoming development to the Wise, Lee, Scott and Norton area community.
The new home coming to the area is all thanks to a Wise County teacher, Brandy Martin, who said once she learned about Isaiah 117 House and their mission, she reached out.
“I have firsthand seen kids being removed from the home,” Martin said. “When I was made aware of Isaiah 117 House, I knew the kids in Wise County needed one.”
Sunday’s event, along with the following six months, will be the organization’s time to spread awareness of the new home to the community. Rhonda Paulson, Founder and Executive Director of Isaiah House, said they would love to talk to local churches and civic organizations to get others aware.
Once the awareness stage is complete, they will begin fundraising to raise money for the construction.
Paulson said that as an organization they never sought expansion, but the locations they have today are because of community members reaching out to help the children in foster care.
“I thought there was going to be one house. But my God is much bigger than that,” Paulson said. “He sees every child that’s removed and he longs for his people to be in his hands and his feet and help those children. That’s what’s going to happen right here in this community within the next year.”
