WISE COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) — Nonprofit organization Isaiah 117 House is expanding its operations into more Southwest Virginia counties.

Isaiah 117, which works to provide a safe and comfortable place for children in the foster system between placements, announced on Thursday that it is looking to bring services to Wise, Scott and Lee counties, as well as the City of Norton.

The nonprofit plans to hold a community-wide kickoff event on Sept. 7 at 3 p.m. to celebrate the start of the expansion campaign. The event will be held at the Goodloe Center at Mountain Empire Community College and will raise awareness for Isaiah 117’s mission.

Isaiah 117 did not provide any specific plans for bringing services to the three counties and city in a news release Thursday; however, founder and executive director Ronda Paulson encouraged anyone wanting to learn more or get involved to attend the event on Sept. 7.

“This is a great opportunity to learn more about Isaiah 117 House and how to partner with us in making a transformational impact in the lives of children in Wise, Scott and Lee counties and the City of Norton,” Paulson said in a news release. “We encourage everyone, whether you are simply curious about our services or know you are ready to get involved, to join us as we take this exciting next step in this community.”

Isaiah 117 House began in Elizabethton and has expanded to serve children in 13 states.

In Virginia, several of the homes for foster children are either under construction or in the raising awareness phase. An Isaiah 117 House currently serves children in Lynchburg. Homes in Russell and Washington County are under construction.
