SAVANNAH, Ga. () — Islands High School announced a new head coach to the lead the football program on March 12, according to an email sent out by the athletic director.
Russel Perry accepted the position to lead the program for the 2025 season. Islands was winless in 2024. Their last win was Oct. 7, 2021 against Groves, 41-2. Their last region win was Nov. 6, 2020 against New Hampstead, 21-6.
“Accepting the position of head football coach in the community I grew up in a true honor,” Perry said in the press release. “It’s not just about building a winning program, it’s about shaping the next generation of leaders, instilling values and giving back to the place that helped shape me. Together we will build a legacy of strength, character and pride that will echo throughout this community for years to come.”
According to Georgia High School football historians association’s coaches database, this would be Perry’s first head coaching position.
