CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — An organization that helps guide future black leaders hosted a fundraising event this weekend in Champaign.

Jack and Jill of America, Inc., Greater Champaign-Urbana Chapter showed the movie “Albany Road” on Saturday at 10 a.m. The film was directed and produced in Central Illinois and is about a New York executive sharing a rental car with her ex-fiancé’s mother and discovering the mom is hiding a major secret.

Organizers said all the proceeds will go toward supporting African American children and families.

“I think that the cause is a great cause,” said Nicola Sharpe of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., Greater Champaign-Urbana Chapter. “Going to go see this movie is something every community member should appreciate and enjoy because it happened here.”

The movie played at the AMC Champaign 13 theater. Tickets were $20 which included popcorn and a drink.
