Ja’Marr Chase will miss the upcoming game against the New England Patriots, as his one-game suspension for spitting on Jalen Ramsey of the Pittsburgh Steelers has been confirmed by a hearing officer.

On Tuesday, hearing officer Jordy Nelson, who was appointed collaboratively by the NFL and the NFLPA, decided to maintain the suspension, which is without pay.

The incident occurred during the fourth quarter of last Sunday’s game when the Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver spat on Ramsey. This altercation began when Ramsey grabbed Chase’s face mask and struck him, leading to Ramsey’s ejection from the game.

The NFL explained that Chase’s suspension was issued under a rule targeting actions that violate the fundamental principles of sportsmanship.

Although Chase refuted the spitting allegation following the Bengals’ 34-12 defeat, a local Cincinnati TV station captured video evidence of the event.

According to the NFL Players Association database, Chase will be docked at least $448,333,33 in base salary as a result of the suspension.
