In Johnson City, Tenn., the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center revealed plans for a series of infrastructure improvements scheduled for this year, according to an announcement made on Tuesday, March 3.
The Department of Veterans Affairs disclosed in a press release that these projects are part of an unprecedented $4.8 billion nationwide initiative. This funding is dedicated to modernizing, repairing, and enhancing healthcare facilities for veterans across the country.
As detailed in the release, the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center is set to undertake various improvement projects during the first quarter of the fiscal year 2026.
- Underground diesel storage tank replacement project
- Boiler plant replacement project
- Bronchoscopy laboratory replacement project
- D2 inpatient unit replacement project completed
“Enhancing our facilities, equipment, and infrastructure translates to superior care for our Veterans,” stated Medical Center Director Martina Malek in the release. “These resources will enable the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center to fulfill that mission. Our primary aim is to deliver exceptional care, and these projects are pivotal in achieving this objective.”
The VA emphasized that these investments are part of broader efforts to revamp the department during President Trump’s second term.
