In a recent Facebook announcement, Jeff Davis County Schools informed the community about a social media threat that had been effectively managed, reassuring both students and staff of their safety measures.

The incident involved a student who posted a threatening message on social media after school hours. Prompt action was taken by the school system, which involved notifying law enforcement to address the situation swiftly and appropriately.

To ensure the continued safety of everyone on campus, the school district highlighted several security measures already in place. These include weapons detection systems at all entrances, the presence of School Resource Officers, and the CENTEGIX alert system. Furthermore, under the provisions of House Bill 268, they are in the process of implementing the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System, which encourages proactive reporting of potential threats.

The school system emphasized the importance of immediate communication with law enforcement and school administrators whenever potential threats are detected, underscoring their commitment to maintaining a secure environment for learning.
