A troubling case of alleged child abuse has emerged in Johnson City, Tennessee, leading to the arrest of a local man, Marcus Stewart Wright. The 30-year-old faces two counts of aggravated child abuse and neglect following the submission of home security footage to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO), which purportedly shows him mistreating a juvenile on two separate occasions.

According to a statement from the WCSO, Wright was apprehended on Tuesday after deputies secured a warrant for his arrest. The arrest was facilitated with the assistance of Sullivan County deputies, who aided in locating Wright.

The sequence of events began when a concerned citizen reached out to a WCSO deputy after receiving residential security footage from a witness. The footage allegedly captured an incident in July involving a man identified as Wright and a juvenile. This video, deemed crucial evidence, was promptly handed over to law enforcement by the citizen.

The situation escalated when, just hours later, the same citizen reported receiving additional footage from the witness. This new video reportedly displayed another instance of alleged abuse, adding to the gravity of the accusations against Wright.

Following the tip regarding the initial video of the alleged abuse, the citizen reported hours later that the witness sent them another video that depicted another, separate instance of alleged abuse.

The affidavit said the second reported abuse allegation took place around or on Oct. 7. The second video was also put into evidence, the affidavit said.

According to the affidavit, a warrant was then obtained for Wright “due to the totality of these circumstances.”

Wright was being held in the Washington County Detention Center on a $26,000 bond as of Wednesday.
