Johnson County Resident Faces Attempted Murder Charges Following Shooting Incident Involving Juvenile

JOHNSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Authorities in Johnson County have charged a 38-year-old man with attempted first-degree murder following the shooting of a juvenile on Sunday.

Deputies responded to the incident on Waters Road in the Laurel community after receiving reports of a young person with gunshot injuries.

Based on their investigation, the sheriff’s office announced that Joshua Houston Upright faces several charges.

  • Attempted First-Degree Murder
  • Aggravated Child Abuse and Neglect
  • Aggravated Assault (Domestic Violence)

The juvenile victim received immediate medical care, as confirmed by the sheriff’s office.

Upright is currently detained at the Johnson County Jail, with bail set at $1 million. The case is still under active investigation.
