SAVANNAH, Ga. — During a memorable senior night celebration, the boys’ basketball team at Johnson High School honored their dedicated team manager in a unique way.
For the past four years, Rico McNabb has passionately served as the manager for the team. Although he dreams of playing college basketball, a medical condition has unfortunately put that goal out of reach.
Chuck Campbell, the boys’ basketball coach at Johnson, aimed to make the evening unforgettable for McNabb, whom he affectionately calls the team’s “sixth man.” On this special night, McNabb donned a team uniform.
Taking the court for the opening tip-off against Beach High School, McNabb thrilled the crowd by scoring the game’s first points.
Coach Campbell also highlighted McNabb’s academic excellence, noting his participation in the International Baccalaureate program at Johnson, which speaks volumes about his intelligence and commitment.
McNabb will be a basketball manager when he attends college, according to Campbell.
