DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. – The husband of a woman who has been missing from her Maxville home since Sunday evening has been arrested, according to Duval County jail records and News 6 partner News 4 JAX.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said it believes Kayla Bailey, 34, may be in danger and has asked for the community’s help to determine if she is safe.

Bailey’s husband, 40-year-old Joshua Elias Bailey, was booked into jail late Tuesday night on charges of violating a domestic violence injunction and violating probation on a felony offense.

He has not been charged in connection with her disappearance.

Before his arrest on Tuesday, Joshua Bailey told News4JAX that he went to the Sunoco near Maxville, where his wife’s last location pinged, to try to find her.

“We were hoping that we could just pick her up and bring her home, because the kids still needed to go to school and everything else like that,” Joshua said. “And we started the search right away. We knew something was wrong.”

While they’re not sure where she is right now, her family is hoping she’ll make a safe return soon.

“Please, please, if you’re just out there and just need to come home, then come home,” Joshua said.

Kayla’s mother, Lisa Lucas, said that as more time passes since her daughter went missing, she becomes more concerned.

“Kayla, please come home,” she said.

She also said that her daughter has been in a dark place recently. Three weeks ago, Lucas says Bailey left home with her children, but returned last week on Tuesday, and was “just not herself.”

JSO reports revealed that Kayla Bailey had previously left her home in Maxville after “disputes,” but had returned about a week ago.

According to JSO, Kayla Bailey was last seen at her home in Maxville late Sunday evening wearing a black romper, brown shoes, and glasses.

Police described her as a 5-foot-8 woman who weighs about 250 pounds with green eyes and blonde/strawberry hair.

Police said they also spoke with Bailey’s daughter, who said she believes she saw her mother around 5:45 the following morning, but also said that she was half asleep at the time. The daughter added that she saw Bailey standing in the middle of a room, but that her mother didn’t say anything.

JSO said its officers have canvassed “immediate areas” as well as locations that Bailey is believed to have frequented, like the Jacksonville Public Library, but were unable to locate her.

On Bailey’s Facebook profile, she describes herself as a business owner and digital creator.

On her business’s website, fohhphotography.com, Bailey is described as a Jacksonville photographer and a mother of five who began her business journey in October 2013.

The website shows various photos, presumably taken by Bailey, specializing in newborn, maternity, and family photography.

Anyone with information on Bailey’s location is asked to call JSO immediately at 904-630-0500.
