SAVANNAH, Ga. () — The trial and conviction of Alex Murdaugh captivated people for months. Now one of the jurors in that notorious trial has written a book about her time in the courtroom.

Amie Williams, or Juror #864, listened to testimony and came to the conclusion — along with the other jurors — that Murdaugh was guilty of murdering his wife Maggie and son Paul in June of 2021. Her book, “The Long Road To Justice,” details her time on the jury. She says she still hears from people who say the jury could not have reached a guilty verdict in such a short time. “Some people were in an uproar that it took us less…about 3 hours or less. 6 weeks. We had all the evidence in the room with us. We were all intelligent people. That’s what I want people to see. That we have minds of our own. We had an oath that we took. And we made our decision based on witness testimony.”

Williams’ co-author of the book, Shana Hirsch, was riveted by the drama during the trial. She says co-authoring the book with Williams was easy because she agreed with the jury’s decision one hundred percent. “They did the right thing and the judge in the case did too. He said in his experience, when jurors have been sitting in a trial for that long, they have to process everything and there’s very little that needs to be discussed.”

Amie Williams’ book, “The Long Road To Justice,” co-authored by Shana Hirsch, is available now wherever you get your books and audiobooks or by clicking here. A portion of the book sales will go toward a non-profit domestic violence shelter, Sanctuary House, Williams founded.
