MUNCIE, Ind. (WCIA) — Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond alumna Kenli Nettles capped her collegiate track and field career on a high note at Ball State, showcasing an impressive performance at the outdoor nationals held in Eugene, Oregon.
Competing in the heptathlon, Nettles secured a tie for 16th place, achieving four personal bests during the event. She notably claimed fourth in the heptathlon shot put and consistently placed within the top 16 across the final five events.
Her efforts culminated in a remarkable total of 5,703 points, marking the second-best score in the history of the school.

Throughout her athletic journey, Nettles made stops at Iowa and Illinois, navigating through several injuries. However, this season, the Arthur native enjoyed a relatively injury-free campaign, allowing her talents to truly shine.
Throughout the trials of previous seasons, she learned how to deal with adversity.
“Not everything is going to go your way every single day, and like there are going to be a lot of ups and downs, whether you want them to be or not… so just trusting the process, trusting your coaches, and just knowing that everything will ultimately work out in the end,” Nettles said.
While at Ball State, Nettles was also a two-time MAC champion.
