CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) – Thursday night saw more tickets to the state track and field meet punched as several local teams competed around the area.

The top two finishers in each event, plus others with qualifying marks/ times, advance to the state meet May 22-24.

Monticello was host for a 2A girls’ track and field sectional.

The Unity Rockets finished atop the team scores with 137 points. Mt. Zion was second at 115, while Taylorville scored 58.5 points to finish third.

In 1A in Tuscola, the hosting Warriors locked up the top team spot despite a weather delay stopping the final event of the day (4×400) from being completed on Thursday. Tuscola sits at 118 team points with 17 of 18 events complete. Shelbyville is second with 82, Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond is third with 76.
