Early Monday morning, actor Kiefer Sutherland found himself in police custody after authorities in Los Angeles responded to an alleged assault involving a ride-hailing service driver, according to police reports.
Shortly after midnight, law enforcement was dispatched to an area near the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue, not far from Hollywood Hills.
The Los Angeles Police Department revealed that the 59-year-old actor allegedly got into a ride-hail car, assaulted the driver, and issued threats of a criminal nature. Fortunately, the driver did not require medical attention for any injuries, as stated by the police.
Sutherland was taken into custody on suspicion of making criminal threats. Jail records indicate he was released a few hours later after posting a $50,000 bond. His initial court date is set for February 2, as per the records.
Efforts to reach Sutherland’s representatives for a statement have not yet received a response.
Sutherland is best known for his longtime portrayal of federal agent Jack Bauer on the Fox TV ticking-time-bomb thriller “24” and several spinoffs. He also starred in “The Lost Boys” and “Young Guns” and appeared in two films directed by Rob Reiner, “Stand by Me” and “A Few Good Men.”
He is the son of Hollywood acting luminary Donald Sutherland.
