WASHINGTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A Kingsport man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly evading police in Washington County, Tennessee.
According to a news release from the Washington County, Tennessee Sheriff’s Office (WCSO), deputies attempted to stop Tyler L. Smith for speeding.
Smith, 39, allegedly refused to stop and drove through the yard of a home into a field.
Smith then got out of the vehicle and led deputies on a brief foot pursuit in the area, the WCSO reported.
Once in custody, deputies reportedly found drugs in Smith’s possession as well as inside the vehicle.
“The confiscated drugs included 40 Subutex pills, 28 pills of Buprenorphine Hydrochloride and baggies containing a powder residue preliminarily identified as Eutylone, which is a Schedule I drug,” the WCSO said in the release.
Smith was charged with the following:
- Evading Arrest
- Schedule I Drug Violations
- Simple Possession of Schedule III and IV Drugs
- Driving on a Revoked License
- Speeding
Smith also had various arrest warrants from Sullivan and Cocke counties and Gordon County, Georgia, according to the WCSO.
As of Wednesday, Smith is being held on a $14,000 bond at the Washington County Detention Center.
