WASHINGTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Matthew Dakota Stanley, 32, of Kingsport, faces various charges after allegedly stealing a tractor, police report.

According to a news release from the Washington County, Tennessee Sheriff’s Office (WCSO), deputies responded to the 1100 block of Suncrest Drive just after 5 p.m. on March 31.

“A neighbor had observed a vehicle towing her neighbor’s stolen tractor,” the WCSO said in the release. “Witnesses stated the driver of the vehicle, later identified as Stanley, disconnected the trailer from his vehicle and left it and the stolen tractor in a field.”

Deputies then stopped Stanley’s vehicle nearby.

While arresting Stanley, deputies found a glass pipe and a small amount of what is believed to be methamphetamine in his pocket, the WCSO reported. The ignition switch for the tractor and burglary tools were reportedly found inside Stanley’s vehicle.

The tractor was reported stolen out of Kingsport and returned to the owner, according to the WCSO.

Stanley was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of Stolen Property
  • Possession of Burglary Tools
  • Simple Possession/Casual Exchange
  • Drug Paraphernalia
  • Improper Display of Registration

Stanley is being held on a $40,000 bond at the Washington County Detention Center. He is set to appear in court Thursday.
