BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) — Authorities in Sullivan County have charged a Kingsport resident with attempted murder following a dramatic incident in the early hours of Thursday morning in the Orebank area.
The situation unfolded just before 4 a.m., when Sullivan County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence located in the 200 block of McFarland Drive. They were alerted to a heated argument that escalated when a gunshot was fired.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered that 29-year-old Isaiah Joseph Campbell, a resident of McFarland Drive, was involved in a domestic dispute that took a potentially fatal turn. Authorities reported that Campbell fired a gun at a vehicle, posing a serious risk to a family member standing directly behind the vehicle. Fortunately, there were no injuries, according to the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office.
In the aftermath, an arrest warrant was quickly issued for Campbell, who had reportedly fled the scene before law enforcement officers could arrive.
Campbell was later found in Russell County, Virginia, by sheriff’s deputies there and taken to the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Abingdon, where he remains in custody.
Campbell is facing charges of attempted second-degree murder, aggravated assault, two counts of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.
