In Greeneville, Tennessee, a federal judge has handed down a significant prison sentence to a Kingsport man involved in the illegal drug trade. On Wednesday, Aaron Tyshawn Jackson, aged 27, was sentenced to 24 years behind bars, followed by a decade of supervised release, due to his role in distributing fentanyl and methamphetamine in the Kingsport area, often referred to as the Model City.
The U.S. District Court’s decision came after Jackson was convicted by a jury on charges of conspiracy to distribute substantial amounts of dangerous substances: 400 grams or more of fentanyl and 50 grams or more of methamphetamine. These charges underscore the severity and scale of his drug operations.
According to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s office, the evidence presented during the trial revealed that Jackson had been actively acquiring large quantities of these narcotics in Chattanooga, his former hometown. He then transported and distributed them in Kingsport, contributing significantly to the local drug problem.
