BRISTOL, Tenn. (WJHL) – Kyle Larson claimed victory in dominating fashion at Bristol Motor Speedway, sweeping all three stages of Sunday’s Food City 500.

Larson took the lead early in the race and only relinquished it briefly after a late-race pitstop. Denny Hamlin, who was looking to win his third straight race, was unable to catch Larson late in the race and finished second.

Ty Gibbs finished third, Chase Briscoe fourth, and Ryan Blaney fifth.

Stage 1

Pole-winner Alex Bowman took the green flag and held the lead for nearly 40 laps before losing it to Kyle Larson. Larson started to leave everyone behind but got held up by lapped traffic. He ultimately held off a hard-charging Denny Hamlin to win Stage 1.

Hamlin finished the stage in second and Justin Haley finished third.

Stage 2

Larson’s dominance continued into Stage 2, keeping Hamlin and Haley in his rearview mirror after the green flag dropped.

The race’s only caution came on Lap 177 when Shane Van Gisbergen and Cody Ware made contact in Turn 1, causing Gisbergen to spin.

Racing resumed on Lap 188 and a few laps later, Bowman passed Hamlin for second place. Larson again jumped to a hefty lead, which he maintained while battling lapped traffic once again to win Stage 2.

Bowman finished the stage in second place and Hamlin took third.

Stage 3

Larson drove away once again early in Stage 3. Bowman held second until engine trouble caused him to fall off the pace and relinquish his position to Hamlin. Bowman took his car behind the wall with around 150 laps remaining.

Hamlin cut into Laron’s lead late in the stage but ultimately couldn’t catch him.
