INDIO, Ca. (NEXSTAR) — Acclaimed singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey made a surprise confession during a Friday performance at the 2025 Stagecoach Festival and it involves one of country music’s most popular (and controversial) current superstars.

While performing a new song titled “57.5,” believed to be from the artist’s forthcoming 10th studio album, Del Rey sang: “I kissed Morgan Wallen. I guess kissing me kind of went to his head. If you want the secret to success — I suggest don’t go ATVing with him when you’re out west.”

  • Victim, suspect identified in Tampa homicide investigation

The 39-year-old “Born to Die” artist, widely considered to be one of the most influential of her generation, joked to the audience beforehand that it was “the last time I’m ever going to say this line.” Del Rey didn’t elaborate on when the alleged kiss happened (or why she wouldn’t be singing the line again).

Nexstar reached out to Wallen’s representatives for comment but have not heard back yet.

The rest of Del Rey’s performance at the country music festival featured the debut of two more new songs, titled “Husband of Mine” and “Quiet in the South,” Rolling Stone reports. Del Rey’s upcoming album, previously titled “Lasso” (also previously titled “The Right Person Will Stay”) and promised to be a country album, has no release date yet, though the singer has released to singles ahead of it, “Henry, Come On” and “Bluebird.”

Del Rey also sang covers of Tammy Wynette’s classic “Stand By Your Man” and John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” the latter of which Del Rey has previously recorded.

Though there still remains some uncertainty about what her forthcoming album will be when it’s compelte, Del Rey told People all the songs she’d recorded by that time were all “Americana.” Fans will just have to wait and see what the Sparkle Jump Rope Queen comes up with next.
