NEW ORLEANS, La. — Ole Miss emerged victorious over Georgia in a nail-biting finish at the Allstate Sugar Bowl, clinching a 39-34 win that propels them into the College Football Playoff Semifinals.

The opening quarter was a battle of field goals, with Ole Miss taking an early lead by nailing two impressive long-range kicks. The first, a record-setting 55-yard field goal, was quickly surpassed by a 56-yard attempt, both of which contributed to a 6-0 lead for the Rebels.

Georgia responded in the second quarter with their first touchdown of the game. Quarterback Gunner Stockton capitalized on a seemingly broken play, making a decisive run from 12 yards out to put Georgia ahead at 7-6.

Ole Miss struck back in the same quarter with their initial touchdown. Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss connected on a 3-yard pass for the score. Opting for a two-point conversion, the Rebels fell short, but still regained the lead, 12-7.

Georgia quickly countered as Stockton completed a crucial third-and-12 pass to Cash Jones, who advanced the ball to the 1-yard line. Wasting no time, Stockton executed a quarterback sneak to edge Georgia back in front, 14-12, following the successful extra point.

The biggest play of the first half came on defense for UGA. Chris Cole forced a fumble which was picked up by Daylen Everette. The back-to-back SEC Championship game MVP rambled 47 yards for the score. Georgia would lead 21-12 after the first 30 minutes.

In the third quarter, Ole Miss outscored Georgia, 7-3. However, the play of the quarter did not produce any points. On fourth-and-6 on its own 30-yard line, Georgia converted a fake punt. The play led to their only points of the quarter.
