LEBANON, Va. (WJHL) — A Lebanon, Virginia man was found guilty of multiple child sex crimes, including aggravated sexual battery, on Thursday.

According to a news release from the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office in Russell County, 54-year-old David Walter Moore III was found guilty of the following:

  • Object sexual penetration (10 counts)
  • Aggravated sexual battery (one count)
  • Indecent liberties of a child (one count)

The Commonwealth presented evidence during a jury trial that Moore sexually abused a child multiple times for two years.

“We are grateful the jury reached the right result and held the defendant responsible for these horrific and unjust acts against an innocent child,” Commonwealth Attorney Zack Stoots said in the release. “My office will be asking the court to impose multiple life sentences against the defendant.”

The Russell County Sheriff’s Office, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Highlands Children’s Advocacy Center investigated the case.

“Law enforcement agencies worked together to thoroughly investigate this case,” Stoots said. “The efforts of law enforcement, combined with the forensic interview performed by the Highlands Children’s Advocacy Center, were essential to outcome of this case. We appreciate the assistance from the Washington County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office and the efforts from the Russell County Victim Witness Assistance Program.”

Moore’s sentencing is set to take place Jan. 8 at 1 p.m.
