TAFT, Fla. – Today, we’re heading into the heart of Taft, one of Orange County’s oldest and most tight-knit communities.
Tucked just south of State Road 528 and east of Orange Blossom Trail, Taft may be small in size, but it’s big in history and even bigger when it comes to residents who care deeply about where they live.
While attending a community event Wednesday evening, a few locals pulled me aside and brought up a concern: large trucks traveling through roads where they shouldn’t be. Whether it’s due to GPS shortcuts or unfamiliar drivers, these vehicles are moving through areas that aren’t built to handle that kind of traffic, raising concerns about safety, noise and damage to infrastructure.
And when the community speaks, I listen.
That’s why today, we’re bringing our live stream on the road, literally right into Taft. We’ll take a closer look at the problem, show you what we observe in real time, and hopefully shine a light on something that’s been quietly affecting the neighborhood for too long.
If you live in the area or just care about how traffic impacts our communities, join us Thursday as we take this conversation directly to the streets of Taft.
