HINESVILLE, Ga. () — From the hallways of Bradwell Institute to the bright lights of New York City, Joshua Eugene Smith is preparing to make his off-Broadway debut in the classic musical “Sunday in the park with George.”
A Tiger turned Polar Bear
He graduated in 2023 from Bradwell Institute. Now, Smith is a junior at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music (MSM), majoring in musical theater. This July, he will take the stage at the Cullum Theater on West 54 street in NYC, performing two roles—the soldier and Billy Webster—in Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s beloved production.

The show is set to run from July 11-13 and will mark Smith’s first appearance in a professional off-Broadway production, making this a significant milestone in the young actor’s blossoming career.
Smith’s journey from small-town Georgia to one of the world’s most competitive performing arts scenes has been marked by his dedication, passion and the unwavering support of his parents Andrew and DeLandria Burrell Smith.
“Sunday in the park with George,” inspired by the painting “A Sunday on La Grande Jatte” by Georges Seurat, is a Tony-Award-winning musical celebrated for its passionate themes. Smith’s dual roles in the production reflect his versality as a performer.
